1. Get a Workout Buddy
Another best fitness motivation is getting an accountability partner. Ask a friend or reach out to someone at your gym to help keep each other accountable. Even better, tell each other your fitness goals. That way you can remind and motivate each other why they need to be doing a workout, and that they also need to be there for you to reach your fitness goals.
2. Set Realistic Goals
Write down your fitness goals. Without clearly knowing why you want to get fit, you’ll find excuses that appear more important. By writing down your fitness goals and keeping them on you, you’ll be able to ask yourself what’s more important, watching Netflix and chocolate, or going for a workout.
3. Listen to Music
Music is magical – it could affect emotions. Why not create your own playlist that’s going to get you fired up! Flick in the headphones anytime you know deep down you should be working out, even better, keep them in until you get to the gym and add to the playlist between sets.
4. Make it fun
Do you enjoy going to the gym and doing a workout? If not, there’s a good chance you’ll stop. To keep your motivation to stay fit overflowing, put fun in all you do. Try something different, go to a fitness class, change up your workout routine, try high intensity interval training, bodybuilding, and hire a personal trainer. There’s just so many options out there, and when you find what works for you, you’ll actually look forward to going to the gym (it will happen!)
You don’t have to find a dark room and concentrate on what you want to achieve! Visualising can be done at any time, the main thing to focus on is what fitness will do for you. For some, it might be being able to run around and play with the kids without getting out of breath. For others, it could be dressing up and going out being comfortable with what you’re wearing. There’s no right or wrong, but it must be important to you.
6. Treat Yourself
Another perfect workout inspiration is treating yourself. Reward yourself every time you hit a milestone. If there’s a show you love watching, make it so you only watch an episode for every workout you do. If you do a certain amount of workouts in a
week/fortnight/month go to your favourite restaurant, or do something fun like going to the cinemas!
7. Be Flexible
Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a workout, life gets in the way sometimes. Those that see results don’t go every single day without fail, they’re just consistent. If you’re not feeling up to working out that day, take a day off. We want to keep fitness fun and enjoyable, making it a chore will drain your motivation. The more important thing is to get back on track.
